Where to stay in Amsterdam? What are the best places and neighborhoods? Here are our tips for finding the best accommodation (hotels and apartments) for staying in Amsterdam with your family.
Which neighborhood to stay in Amsterdam?
The Binnenstad district is the tourist center of Amsterdam. This area has the largest number of hotels and apartments for rent. Binnenstad is also the district most chosen by tourists. Although, we found it less charming than other Amsterdam neighborhoods. The choice of the hotel changes everything because from one street to another, the district does not show the same aspects at all. We noticed this hotel, which is very well located for a 2-night stay.
The other tourist districts of Amsterdam are the Museum Quarter, the Grand Canals, and the Jordaan district. Jordaan and the Grand Canals are ideal to be closest to the canals. For a quieter area, the Museum Quarter is perfect.
Further from the city center, the De Pjip district is perfect for visiting Amsterdam with your family without spending too much. In addition, it’s a charming neighborhood with a bohemian feel. It is located right next to the Museum Quarter, which is convenient for visiting Amsterdam’s must-see museums.
Best hotels for staying in Amsterdam
Our favorite is the Mr. Jordaan Hotel! It’s the one we took, as it is near the canals. Book at least 2-3 months in advance, as the rooms go quickly.
We also noticed a charming boutique hotel in the Museum Quarter:Â Apollofirst Boutique Hotel. If you are going to visit the beautiful museums of Amsterdam, the location is perfect. It was our second choice.
If you’re traveling with teenagers, here are two lovely places Boutique B&B Nassau and NH City Centre Amsterdam. These accommodations are large and comfortable for a pleasant family stay.
Best apartments for staying in Amsterdam
For a 2-night trip, we usually prefer to take a hotel, as it’s more practical. However, before leaving, we searched for apartments to know the rates and see what was available.
We found a lovely apartment called Bed of Roses. This one looks excellent if you are looking for an apartment in Amsterdam. Unfortunately, it was no longer available on our dates.
To stay in Amsterdam with your family, you also have this apartment:Â YAYS Amsterdam Maritime. It’s out of the way, but the price is unbeatable!
Binnenstad is an excellent area to stay in Amsterdam with children, but we preferred to book in a slightly less touristy neighborhood, Jordaan. De Pjip is also a good place if you’re looking for reasonable prices and proximity to the city center.
